There is no agreed definition of life coaching. However, Life coaching often contains the following features:
- Techniques and simple strategies for helping you to close the gap between where you are now and what you want to achieve
- Techniques for learning how to deal with negative thoughts and mental blocks
- A type of support that focuses on achieving positive results and is forward looking
- Processes and easy-to-follow models to help you to make choices for yourself and make your life more purposeful
- A type of support which is holistic, i.e. encourages you to achieve overall well being and to set in balance the different aspects of your life
- A professional relationship between a coach and an individual or group whose purpose is to provide assistance in clarifying and achieving meaningful goals and making practical decisions.
- A type of support suitable for ordinary people as a means of helping you to identify and pursue a vision of who and where you want to be
- A pragmatic type of support encouraging positive actions, the ability to learn from experience and the capacity to build on success.
